چکیده

Background: Central nervous system (CNS) has limited repair capacity, and any spinal cord injury (SCI) can cause persistent disability in motor, sensory, autonomic functions. The harmful reactions around the lesion must be stopped to prevent this consequence. Objectives: present study compares clinical effects of methylprednisolone sodium succinate (MPSS) meloxicam acute an animal model rats. Methods: We randomly divided 24 male Wistar rats into 4 groups: 1) sham, 2) placebo, 3) SCI+MPSS (30 mg/kg, IV), 4) SCI+meloxicam (1 SC). used a Fogarty embolectomy catheter induce compression rats’ T8-T9 segment. drugs were injected one hour after surgery. Neurological evaluation was performed using BBB (Basso, Beattie, Bresnahan) test immediately recovery then once week for up 6 weeks. Results: According results, single-dose administration MPSS improved motor function significantly compared placebo. But, there no significant difference between groups placebo (P>0.01). Conclusion: In evaluation, meloxicam.

Effect of Aspirin on Spinal Cord Injury: An Experimental Study

Aspirin is an anti-inflammatory drug, peroxyl radical scavenger, and antioxidant agent that inhibits phospholipases, nitric oxide synthetases, and cyclooxygenase enzymes. The existing literature contains no studies on the effects of various doses of aspirin on spinal cord injury (SCI). Therefore, we sought to investigate the putative effects of aspirin on experimental SCI.The weight-drop injury...

erythropoietin plus methylprednisolone or methylprednisolone in the treatment of acute spinal cord injury: a preliminary report.

recent studies in animal models indicate that recombinant human erythropoietin (rhepo) is very effective in enhancing neurological recovery after spinal cord injury (sci). we aimed to evaluate the effect of rhepo plus methylprednisolone sodium succinate (mpss) compared to mpss alone to improve neurological function of patients after sci in a randomized clinical trial. during a 15-month period 3...
